What we do: We meet once a month, September to June, the second Wednesday, from 7PM to 8:30 PM. Currently we are meeting via Zoom. We purchased our own Zoom program so that we can meet for various spiritual, fellowship and fun activities during the month. On the last Wednesday of the month, we have a program called “Seeking God’s Peace Together” – where we read and explore passages in the Bible. We host monthly “A Second Cup of Coffee with Joyce“, a social chit chat group. We also play “Zoom Bingo” with surprises and prizes! In January, 2021 we will be starting some other interesting and educational programs on Zoom. This year we believe that while we may be separated from one another, it doesn’t mean we have to be isolated from each other. Though confined, we can still lovingly serve God.
While STWA is mostly known for our Bake Sales, we do so much more. Prior to the pandemic, we would meet in the Community House. During the first hour we would make plans to host activities that are designed to promote community and socialization for the parish …. like our Evening of Bingo, Father/Daughter Dance, and Casino Night. Monies earned from the activities are then returned to the church in the form of gifts such as Altar Linens or financial assistance. We Adopt-a-Family at Christmas, help Feed the Hungry and provide meals for the Night Shelter. With the help of The Knights of Columbus, we host Breakfast with Santa. We support St. Vincent de Paul, Our Lady of Perpetual Hope (Hospice for Cancer patients), and other ministries within the parish. We host Days of Reflection, and have members evenings out. In January of 2020 we held a Mystery Dinner for our STWA group at a local restaurant. The laughter and fun still remains within each of us as a happy memory.
Our Mission Statement is: To unite and promote women of faith. To support, encourage and educate women in their spirituality, leadership and service to others in both the Parish and the Community.
New Members – Women bring a special touch and gift to everything they do and we would love to have your talents and input added to our organization. If you are interested in finding out more about STWA, just send an e-mail to WomensAuxiliaryofStThomas@gmail.com, or call Florence Haines, President at 404-697-0675.
